For some reason, I am too stubborn to follow typography design rules. This is great because it means my fonts stand out with an unpolished feel. Otherwise, what is the point of downloading a font other than Helvetica, right?
The same goes for web design. I am just too stubborn to learn the basic principles. I must be honest; sometimes it takes me a lot of time to struggle my way through my websites before they look somewhat acceptable. I understand there is an element of user experience and all that, but to be honest, web design is just not where my heart lies.
Now, let's combine these two elements, typography and web design. Here you have my ongoing, never-ending project: my type foundry, THE BOLD FONT.
Yes, there are many AI tools out there that let you create a decent website in one click. I am a creator, you know, and the struggle comes with the title. However, I decided to at least try to set up the landing page one more time for SEO reasons. I let ChatGPT make an outline, had it write most of the copy, and finally, we are almost ready for the new funky bold landing page.
Having said that, today it took me a full day to finalize it, and it is still not done. No, this time it is not perfectionism speaking. If something is not readable, what's the point? It would not surprise me if it takes me another complete day to actually launch it because web projects always cost me more time than I would imagine upfront.
The good side of this story is that I allow myself to take that time, not to stress or panic, and just trust the process.
