No obligations, but the absolute freedom to play around and be free. I have been selling gradient paintings for two months now, and the results go up and down, which teaches me to trust the process. Still, I feel the need to create new ones because it is my main income these days. So, no gradients means no money.
But today, I felt free—free to create something new. I had this idea of creating a silhouette on top of a gradient background. I wanted to incorporate stencil-like shapes for the face as well, so I went to the store and got some paper.
Then, I cut two stencils and traced around the first one with a brush and paint. For the second one, I decided to use spray paint and made a fade on top of the silhouette. Well, what can I say? I already knew that spraying with spray paint indoors is not a good idea, but I did it anyway. Thinking about it now, I believe it has to do with the creative flow—the rush I find myself in when creating something new and exciting like this. Don't think too much; just throw on some paint.
The rest of the day, I spent staring at the painting and this new style, wondering what I think of it. In the end, I believe I don't have to think anything of it and should just embrace the fact that I found the freedom to create something absolutely new.
